Weirdcore is a mostly visual aesthetic style based in surreal, dreamlike or even dissociative imagery. It's a diverse type of internet aesthetic, able to invoke a number of emotions from the viewer, including dread, anxiety, or even comfort and nostalgia. Its visuals are rooted in 2000's digital graphics and graphical elements: low-fidelity images, popups, online ads, and early image editing softwares such as MS Paint.

Why Make This e-Shrine?

Most of us in our system fall into the category of people to whom weirdcore images invoke comfort. We actually used to have dreams that almost exactly align with its aesthetic long before it existed. Those dreams were a comfort to us in tumultuous times, and thus, weirdcore is something we naturally gravitate to. This e-shrine documents some of our favorite weirdcore images, our own ones, and the aesthetic's core and influences.
